So, as a home owner, where do you go from here. Well there are a couple of options. Firstly you can do nothing and hope either that you don’t suffer a break-in, or if you do, then the system works as it should. But you didn’t have that alarm panel fitted in the HOPE that it would protect you- did you ? No- you had it fitted so that it would. So, option 2 is to contact your alarm supplier, tell them that you have broadband now and that you want to make sure that the alarm panel is properly filtered and that it will properly seize the line in the case of a break-in. Refer them to this website, particularly if they seem vague as to whether they understand the problem, don’t be surprised if they don’t. Not many people, even those in the alarm business are aware of the implications of a broadband line on a security system.
